MAKE A DELIVERY TEAM OF 50 FTES PREDICTABLE AND CREATE A REALISTIC RELEASE CALENDAR WITHIN 6 MONTHS

Customer type: The biggest Fintech in Belgium

Challenge: This is one of the oldest fintechs in Europe, and for a very long time, the company was organized in a traditional, hierarchical way and used the waterfall methodology. During the Covid period the agile way of working was introduced. It proved to be very hard to remotely manage this change and the result was a delivery organization not delivering to plan anymore. Moreover, the delivery teams got demotivated and people were leaving the organization. Our challenge was to get the delivery teams back on track ASAP.

Approach:

  • To get a clear view of the situation, a quick scan existing of about 15 interviews was conducted with all the levels in the organization and presented to the management board within a 1 month timespan.
  • Based on the results of this quick scan an action plan was created with concrete and measurable milestones, which was executed by a joint team of the customer and Just Deliver IT over a 6 month period.
  • The involvement of the customers’ staff was crucial for the future embedding within the customers’ organization.
  • The project was executed under a fixed price.

Result:

  • Together with the delivery teams, we defined a combination Waterfall/Agile methodology that allowed the organization to be predictable again in their deliveries
  • Within 6 months a reasonable release calendar was realized on which the teams felt comfortable committing themselves to.
  • After we left, the teams had the tools to continue to improve their way of working and continued to deliver against their commitments.
  • The teams regained their motivation and the confidence came back, resulting in happy teams, reduced attrition and a confident management.
